I had one, 6.5 diesel, when it started costing me too much, I ordered my 06 cummin`s the best **** thing I did, twice as much power, when I changed over I almost fell a sleep when I was towing as it seemed so effortless compared to taking run`s at hills and manually shifting the auto to keep it in the rpm range, no brainer, just get a newer tow vehicle, you eill never regret it. my .25c worth

I'm a Chebby Guy but the Dodge diesel is a "real" truck. Chevy made that truck all those years (1987- around 2000?) and I never heard just how bad a truck it was in the 4X4 version. Terrible turning circle, in fact it's almost non existent, poor front axle, useless automatic transmission, 10 times worse than the Dodge one and the Dodge one is not great, and who makes a 4X4 that you can't just roll under on your creeper because the frame rails are too low???????? The interior is nice and it rides like a car..... BUT it's supposed to be a TRUCK.
Chevy lost me as a truck customer because of that truck. Will that do?

the only thing that lets the dodge tow is the ctd the rest of these trucks is junk . i used to tow the same stuff with my chevy 454's and never had the drivetrain or motor problems like i have had with these trucks

I have a 93 GMC 2500 with a 6.5 Turbo as well as the 2002 3500 Dodge. To drive, the GMC is much nicer than the Dodge. It has only cost a few hundred dollars over its 180,000 miles and 17 years. It makes 20 miles to the gallon and has just as much hp (with a few mods) as the stock 24v. They are a nice truck but there does comes a time to retire these 6.5 diesels, if he has to put a trans in thats 2500$ then if the engine goes out thats 6000$ for a good rebuilt 6.5 plus all the miss. needed. For that money he could get a 10 year newer truck and likely a lot less problems, thats what I did anyway.
