I currently own a 1992 D250 CTD. it was my first truck but because of the weather where i live i needed 4wd. so i went brain dead and bought an 07 four door 4wd hemi. I like it but i miss the smoke. I still have my old truck and want to totally restore it. i have no problem dealing with the body, dad owns a paint shop, but the truck has power steering problems and leaks oil from somwhere i cant find. let me know if you think its worth it. thanks

i would keep it, you might be getting air in the power stearing pump thats causing your problems...and if it did not have an oil leak it would not be a cummins

think i will keep it, just have to buy a bigger stick to pry the girls off of it.LOL. i have had 2 power steering pumps put in it in the last year but it still doesnt want to work. and where do the cummins typically leak oil? looks like the drivers side. Already have all new valve cover gaskets.

Well, here is a scenerio for ya.. Ok.. I have two trucks sitting outside.. New 06 Mega cab that is pretty cool, and my restored 92 that is my baby..

I need to run uptown, I jump in the old girl.

I need to go across the state 200 miles.. I jump in the old girl..

Get home and wonder why the heck am I paying 600 per month for my mega when 95% of the time I would rather drive my 92

But, in 15yrs or so. I probably will be driving my 06 becasue it will be cool by then!!

So, yes. If you have the time and money, restore it. Don't be scared of a leaking steering box, they all leak. Just leave the dust seal out and put two seals in instead of just one.

It is worth it, double, because it is your first vehicle. I got rid of my first car, after it was rear ended and wrecked. I now wish that I would have kept it.

Power steering is always a chore to work on but with a little patience, and a few dollars worth of parts, you will get it fixed. A little oil leak won't hurt anything.

Driver's side is usually the vacuum pump. It's easy and inexpensive to rebuild.

I know how you feel. Seems like that payment would be better as a new turbo or a nice set of injectors.

anyone know where i can find interior panels? some of mine are craked or broken. looking for the grayish blue colour

just take out the hemi and put your cummins in!! then you can clean up the engine and replace some seals and gaskets!!! Then you could sell the hemi and 1gen for patrs!!!

i wish it was that easy. i much prefer the look of the first gen. i could just put the 4wd into the 92, but i think a cv front end would get me laughed at

does any one know of a place to buy carpeting for my truck? maybe bucket seats and a console?

i have no leaks in mine and i know for sure it's still a cummins
