92,000 miles, Mod or trade

I have a 04.5 and need some help making up my mind. Should I trade or modify the truck. I have the Quadzilla standard and it seems that I am not getting the power to the ground so I assume that a tranny is in the future. I am sure that the front end needs worked over, will inspect tomorrow. It should be time for the first brake job also. I drive about 800 miles a week. I have talked to Dave Smith Dodge(great prices) but am not sure if I want to put that many miles on an 07. What would you do?

an 04.5 is a great truck to modify. I would keep it. its broke in now. if you like the truck and its been dependable, dont get rid of it. I wish some days I kept my 05. it never let me down other than a few tiny issues.

I've got 125k on my 04.5 and wouldn't even consider getting rid of it. It's got lots of miles left before it will need it's first brake job. Drive it and mod it.

If you decide to go New then it is worth the trip to Dave Smith. I got mine there, good deal, painless and lots to choose from. They sell over 1000 cars in trucks a month so no screwing around on prices. They also give good deals on trades.

Stroke this, I'm with you man. I get bored of trucks easy as well, but have replaced so much on my truck this year that I need to keep it.

Coolum, definetly keep the truck and the first mod you should do is a tranny (if you can afford it) then go with some gauges. Let the modding begin!!

Man i just got mine outta the shop with 106k. I had 2 choices, 1 patch it for around $800-$1200 and screw someone on the trade, or 2 fix it right and keep it till the wheels fall off...... I chose 2. I love my truck and think about the money we save by not having that new $700+ payment every month. Keep your ride and build it right cuz your warranty is about to be extinct. The money you put in it from this point on has to be spent wisely, I agree with patriot. Build the tranny and get gauges now, and then....., get busy with your list of motor mods.

well yer asking a guy that drove his last pickup over 400k until the wheels fell off. I look at it this way, if it runs and its DEPENDABLE why set yourself up for another payment. But everyones different, my dad gets a new truck every 3 to 4 years, he says that way he never has to worry about fixing it cause its always under warrenty. Just my .02 man, good luck in your decision.

I think you guys are right. It has been a great truck and gets good mileage. The only thing that broke was the lift pump. That was the only time it was in the shop. My bother has a 05 and he had to lemon law it, got some money from dodge and he still takes it to get worked on all the time. I guess I got one of the good ones.

Thanks for the input

I think in the end you will regret the duramax. they run good but, it wont last like your cummins will. thats just my thoughts. but I get bored with vehicles also.

I would keep it and mod it....once you get that many miles on the truck and are over the "truck middle age/mileage hump" I think its fun to just keep it forever...see how long it will go. Ive got like 63k on my truck (its a 2005! yikes) and it runs great....Im going to keep it forever.

build the tranny and bomb it...you wont have any trouble with the CTD even at high mileage.

Im with duro-max,
Im gonna keep mine for a looong time, I dont like having payments anymore, and it runs like a champ! I have an 04 that is getting real close to turning 99k miles! I still have the stock tranny too, which is amazing!

My long term goal is to also put some suspension on it like Kore or Lorenz that will allow me to jump my 500hp truck on my luch break!
