>>> 90 jeep cherokee xj fuel pump ??? <<<
I have an old 1990 inline-six 5-speed Cherokee Laredo that gets driven maybe once every month.
The last few times, there has been this constant drone-noise coming from the aft section at all times that the key is in RUN; I sort of figured it was an in-tank electric pump.
Yesterday, I needed the thing moved out of the way, but it would not start.
Plus, the droning/humming noise was absent.
I rocked the whole thing a lot, sloshing the fuel around, and gave the tank a few healthy kicks, to no avail.
What else can I eliminate before I condemn the pump ??
Is there a fuel-pump relay and where is it ??
Do any of the fuses in the fuse-block have anything to do with it ??
Does anyone have the correct measurements as to where in the floor I can cut an access hole ??
Thanks.

There are relays on the passenger side one of those is the fuel pump. I think you mite be able to get the pump with out dropping it. Look at the tank between the axle and the tank. It mite be there.

I see three relays on the right fender-well, all in a row on a bracket, so maybe one of those.
So you are meaning that the pump might actually be outside of the tank ??
That would be great.
