75lbs Boost BD R700 Turbos!

I've had my BD R700's for some time now. Yet I made some fueling mods recently. Mostly played with Smarty and TST Powermax. Perhaps I am simply becoming less cautious.

Usually I would hit 62-64lbs of boost. I cranked up the tst with some water injection and hit 75lbs of boost. I did it several times to make sure and because it was simply extreme and cool. Temps were mid 1450's. I still have more fuel to go but I'm getting a wee bit nervous about breaking something.

We have a truck '07 with Flux 3's and R-700's and can hit 80-83 with everything on kill.

IMO, 75-80 should be about the max you should run them, might try playing with the WG on the secondary to get it to start to open around 25psi or so.

I am not sure what timing setting your running, but adding more timing will bring peak boost down, but careful not to add too much timing. Id say with just straight water and no added timing from the TST, you could run the Smarty on timing 3 or 4 and probably be good.

Smarty timing is on #3. TST is set to 0 timing.

Only one waste gate on these compounds. The super B waste gate is adjusted to max setting. I was told to do this to have full twins efficiency. Rarely do I blow past 60lbs of boost. I was just tinkering yesterday with power settings.

More boost does not equal more power with the R700s on my truck... Sweet spot seems to be 55-65psi range.

It feels like more power in the top end. Yet I could be mistaken. I need a dyno.

This is true of every turbo, single or twin.
That is what the dyno is for. To find out.
For me, I can tune using TST only (no smarty) and hit 80 psi on the dyno but only see mid-high 600's. With a lot of smoke. Turning off TST and dialing in smarty, boost went way down, smoke went way down, power went up by about 70hp. When I hit 900, boost was only 74. I can hit 90 on the street. Point is on the same dyno, same day, I made 200+ more HP on less boost.... It is all in the tuning.
