6spd trans rattle
Recently I have notice a distinct rattle in the tranny, or drive line, going up and down through the gears. This is usually more prominent after the truck is warm. Especially after running 70-75mph for extended periods of time. It usually occurs the most from 2-3 and 3-4, and in the 12-1700 rpm range. Goes away around 1800 rpm. I mentioned it to the dealer when i was in to get the alternator bracket ordered, and he just flat shrugged it off. Quite frankly I am wondering why dealerships sell trucks they can't service? ??? Anyway. I am not exactly sure if it is in the tranny or somewhere else in the drive line. Anyone else experience something similar to this, or have any suggestions, I would greatly appriciate it.

With your rattle being rpm specific, I suspect it is the preinjection cycle telegraphing though the shifter. There is a TSB on reflashing to correct that fluctuation and its associated noise. It may be found at WWW.dodgeram.org and follow the links.

Do you have any more specifics on that TSB, I was unable to locate it on that website. It is not listed under the 2003 DR section?

If it only rattles when you have your cruise engaged, it is probably the gas pedal. Alot of them seem to do it. If I just keep my toe under the pedal it stops. If the radio, or my wife, is turned up I don't here it at all.
Check it out.

I goofed, it is listed on my other service, and that is not available to the public.
See your dealer regarding a glitch in the preinjection cycle and a reflash to correct it from dropping out at mid-rpm levels. They will know to what I am referring.
