68RFE with 5.9 or 6.7 only ?

When did they start installing the 68RFE ? All 6.7 have it or first year had 48RFE then upgraded ? How about 5.9l, did they ever had the 68RFE ?

I am looking at a couple of trucks and I don't know what they have.

68RFE only available with the 6.7L 350/650 engines {pickups} beginning in 2007.5 model year; a very sweet automatic transmission also !

Tell me more. I have not thrown any power at mine because I am unable to get a straight answer on who can BOMB this trans for more power UP HERE. So far I have been told nobody is building them...at least nobody I would work with.

well after spending time on the phone with Opie and Suncoast, Opie is NOT making shafts for this trans. Suncoast said they have some in the build phase and R&D but won't be released for up to 3 months and they are being made overseas. no one right now makes shafts to handle the power. Suncoast does however have a "built" tranny for this truck but is only rated to 500-550hp and NO more. The guy we are building the 6.7 for right now, owns a machine shop and is looking into making shafts but that means buying all the shafts and drums to get dimensions and that aint cheap

the truck we are building right now is a dually with dual cp3's, airdog 150, EGR and DPF deletes and with that ONLY the tranny is slipping a bit. The truck only has 15k on the clock. Edge is going on it tomorrow but he is waiting impatiently for the smarty.

A good friend of mine in Eastern Kentucky uses his 2007.5 RAM 3500 for hauling hay & farm equipment......generally hauling loads like this 95% of the time. He has the HOT Juice w/Attitude stacked with an MP8. He has probably a tad over 80k miles on his truck and the transmission has never skipped a beat.

I myself think it's great testimony to the 68RFE.

I'll repeat, its a sweet trans for the typical user. For those that can afford to buy serious horsepower, I would think they could afford a transmission to handle it
