I have posed this question several times on various sites..... actually I would rather transplant the Aisin 6 speed fromt he C&C trucks....
while the 68re has two more gears and WOULD be an advantage, I'd jsut as soon got with the more bulletproof Aisin...
Somebody PLEASE work on a standalone controlller.. !!!

the cab and chassis trucks power is derated compared to the standard trucks. transmission has NO aftermarket parts at all and both the cab/chassis trucks and standard trucks transmission ARE 6 speeds (standard trucks transmissions have aftermarket parts now and I was told by many aftermarket manufactures that there will be NO aftermarket parts for the cab/chassis trans)

You can put a Alison in it. THere are stand alone controlers for them as well as adaptors to bolt it to the Cummins. I REALY wnat to convert mine to a 6 speed manual but I may consider converting it to a 6 speed auto if I have the money when the crapy 48re goes out. If a controler for the 68re is available at that time i will go that rout to keep it cheaper but if not a built Alison is not out of the question.
