'66 Mustang and Utility Trailer

Need some advice. I have a 16' Utility trailer with breaks and ramps and a '66 Mustang. I will have at least 4" on either side to spare. I need to haul the Mustang (does not run) 200 miles to my brother in law. Which is better, having the motor to the front of the trailer or having it to the back? I will be pulling with the truck in my sig. I know the 60/40 thing, but the motor throws a wrench in it. The Mustang is in the barn so easiest loading would be backing it onto the trailer.

Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

Karl

I would get the car turned around to get the weight more on the tongue. A long time ago I had to load a trailer, keeping the tongue light and driving 1000 miles plus. I NEVER did that again, the swaying at speeds above 45 was not fun or safe.

Prior to loading the car get some measurements at the tow vehicles bumper to ground height. this will give you an idea what you have for bumper weight.. Like Fox says on that short of trailer you will probably be better off with the engine forward to get the proper load..

Just an idea if getting the car out of the barn is a problem. You could load the car butt first and then take it to an open parking lot to get it loaded properly for travel.

Thanks. Got it loaded. Pulled it out using my 4-wheeler. Rolled real nice. We monkied it around and I backed my trailer up to a burm where it was almost level and my buddy pulled the 'stang with his truck while I guided it along. We used a 30' tow strap and almost jackkniffed the trailler to have room for the other Truck. everything went really well.

Again thanks for the replies.
