64 71 13ss on its way

i just capped the rail (valve was done) with fte piece (awesome!!!) and installed quazillas RP guage now i am waiting on the turbo and the HTT stainless manifold. the airdog 150 is on the shelf. i need to order some parts from galcier and fte and it will all be ready to go on.

i had real hard time deciding if i should do the 62 or not but many people told me with some donms sticks i would really want the 64. i tow real heavy 30Kgw 5-8 times a year but i also have a 6 speed so we will see.

does anyone have any exprience towing heavy with a 6 speed stixs and this turbo??

Its acceptable. I'll leave it at that.. I don't have stix but it was fine. I'd like the powerband to kick in about 150-200rpms earlier but if the rpms are kept up it will tow pretty good. But then again it personal preference that counts.

With your 6 speed you'll be alright, the only time I have a hard time with mine is when I go real high in elevation, like over 7,000 ft.

i ordered the htt cast stainless manifold b/c i hear it really helps spool the turbo even better than the ats manifold.

countryboy, well thats good because i am actually below sea level here as Hurricane Katrina might have shown you

rip, did you send yours in and have it changed from a 64 down to a 62. no need to be short lets us know what you experienced you arent going to hurt my feelings. remember others will search and read this post looking for help. I will let you know my thoughts on this after i get it on. with all that said i dont like a laggy turbo either.

am i correct countryboy you dont have injectros and run this turbo?

You will be fine with the 64, and when ya do some stick it will only get better(spool wise). I have the 64 and it works great, just towed my buddies Dmax to the NADM event in Numidia PA and had some pretty long steep hills and I didnt have one bit of trouble. One buddy that was with us wanted to see how my truck did because he is trying to do decide on a turbo. Well after riding in my truck while I was towing he made his mind up pretty quick!!

I didn't have a 64 o my truck, but my friend has an 03 that I've borrowed on occasion with the 64/71-13, and I've had to tow with it. Like I said, its acceptable to me, and like Bswope said spoolup will only get better from there. My friend doesn't have stix either, just a Edge Juice/Attitude. I believe you would be fine, especially with the 6spd. Its just the heavy towing that would concern me, especially if hills and heavy laboring are in the picture. You want to be able to be sure that the turbo will recover its egts when they climb high during a hard run up a hill with a load. Downshifting always helps, but I like to keep my speed set and everyone knows can't shift to 5th doing 70.

You just have to ask yourself how far you want to go powerwise, and if that'll be enough to support that turbo.
