Question 6-speed shifter

Anyone know how to stop the plastic cover/ plate (the one that sits on top of the shiter) that shows the shift pattern from rotating?

Hey man, Heres what I did.... I just pryed the cap out with a small regular screwdriver. They take a pocket knife and push the blade into the lip on the inside of the cap several times all the way around the cap, then, just pop it back in. Only takes a few minutes... Hope this helps...

Cool, thanks sumner.

I guess after I re-set it, I can just glue it so it doesn't spin again? Did you do something to prevent yours from spinning again? My brother's 02 does the same thing. But I'll pop it off and fix it.

i stopped that in my 02 by putting an srt-10 shifter in. when you tighten the ball and nut onto the shift lever it cant rotate. plus its leather and brushed aluminum. looks great in there.

I have a white Hurst shift ball on mine. A machine shop made a 16mm to 10x1.5mm adapter so it could fit on the shift lever.

where are you guys getting your srt10 shifters at? since I am short, and have to pull out the shifter to get the trans out for clutch replacement, why put the factory tree branch back in?

Another way to stop it from turning is to take the shift pattern plug out by prying it out with something like a knife, re-install it in the position that you want, then pry open one little spot big enough to get one small drop of glue in there. I used a tiny little drop of Super Glue and it hasn't turned since.

super glue - the runny stuff

I waited 4k miles until it lined up 6-12 oclock again and then dribbled in some of the runny super glue around the edge. Got 5k miles since then and it's still stationary.
