I have a 03 with 6 speed manual trans. It is getting hard to get into first and reverse, reverse more than first. When I first start it up not a problem but after I have driven it for while it gives me problems. Anyone had any problems like this?

Could be several things. First, when was the last time the fluid was changed? Sometimes new fluid will help with cranky shifting. Second is the hydraulics, maybe getting weak.

I found that shifting into 5th before going into reverse helps a bunch.

Mikeyb is right, try a fluid change if it has been over 65k, if it still is hard to do then try pumping the clutch several times if that works then hydraulics are eak

I did change the fluid after it started acting up, did'nt help. I will try pumping the clutch to see if it is the hydrolics. Thanks for the info.

A big possibility is that the pilot bearing is starting to seize, and won't allow the input shaft to completely stop turning when the clutch is disengaged.

That's what I'm thinking, how many miles on it?

218k, I hope it is just the pilot bearing.

if you have 218 on the stock clutch then odds are its the clutch

I think so too, if you're going to all the work to take it apart might as well change it while you're there.
