6.7L Smarty

Anyone actually tried to load a Smarty on a BlueTec truck?

Or know of someone that has?

(not sure I want to be the first!)

If I could get one I would. I dont have anything left on My truck that has anything to do with emissions. I sell them and have been waiting.

You mean an S06? Or the beta 6.7 ones? Now that I think of it, late 06 had computer changes to accomodate the newer style ECM for the 6.7 right?

For now, I mean S0-6.

Ran across anecdotal reports of Smarty + BlueTec, now I want to firm up experiences/results.

I know the 6.7L ECM has far greater capacity, which by itself shouldn't represent a problem, but even after dealing with the EGR, NOX filter, DPF, cat & muffler there's at least the VNT protocols to deal with (which again shouldn't be a deal-breaker since there's already a dedicated 6.7L boost fooler out).

I'm a little concerned about that the Smarty, which according to MADS:

"Simple he has all the latest stock softwares already on board. When you choose
to return the truck back to stock, Smarty takes the stock software from it's memory and updates the ECM with that
software."

would try to load it's latest 5.9L flash into the 6.7L's ECM...

if I correctly understand how Smarty works.

... and if it did - maybe it wouldn't be an issue?

I have used one to clear codes on a 6.7, but that's it. Not brave enough to wipe out the ECM...

Well, Bob said that the Smarty wouldn't recognize the BlueTec software ID, read "unknown software" and refuse to load... so it seems as if it wouldn't damage the ECM?

That's why I'm asking - don't want to FUBAR a customer's ECM!

Already working with a PMT, but I don't consider the gauge features reliable and I doubt I'll need it's code-clearing capability once we de-BlueTec the truck... so I'm looking for available alternatives.

Probably going to suggest a Helix & Flux's.
