Here are the symptoms:

Drivers side (2) vents blow real cold.

Passenger side vents blow warm while the drivers side is blowing cold.

If you touch the air conditioner button (light turns on / off yellow) it does not change the way the air conditioner blows. It keeps blowing cold on the drivers side and warm on the passenger side.

If you change the dial that allows the air to go to the floor, defrost, floor and front vents, etc. It does not change where the air comes out. It just keeps coming out of the front vents. The air still blows cold on the drivers vents and warm out of the passengers front vents.

If you move the cold , warm , hot dial around it does change the air coming out of the vents too warmer or hot. When you go back to the cold setting the drivers side goes back to cold and the passengers side goes back to warm.

The truck has had a dye check three times for leaks (none found) and recharged with about 2.5 ounces of freon.

This is a buddys truck and I troubleshooted all the symptons I found.

I think your looking at the wrong parts of the system , find some repair info /diagrams for blend doors , either you have a disconnected vacuum hose [ maybe while someone was under the hood or dash working on something ] or a a bad leaking vacuum motor [ these are just pods with diaphragm that the vacuum pulls on ] , or control , point being , your have loss control do to vacuum leaking by some where .

No vacumn anything if its a 3rd gen.Its all servo/electric.Almost sounds like TWO issues.Pass side being warm in the past has been low feon levels.The non switching issue "sounds"like a control head. If system keeps getting low it has a leak.What year is this truck?

You have a blend door problem. There is a TSB for it on our trucks. The doors are plastic and the break. They just got done doing the TSB/update to my truck. My situation was similar. The dash has to come out to get @ it.

TSB? is that a recall, I just had mine done ,truck has no warranty left but dealer fixed it under warranty and charged me a 100$ ded.

TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) These help technicians fix problems with vehicles whether there under warranty or not. If the vehicle is under warranty, no charge. If the vehicle is out of warranty, then usually is a charge.

A recall is a safety related repair usually and these are covered by the factory free of charge to the customer regardless of mileage, age or even if the vehicle has a branded title.

Grayghost, your repair sounds like it was covered under and aftermarket extended warranty you may have purchased when you bought the vehicle. However, because the blend door issue is a known problem, Chrysler could have done a goodwill repair and charged you a standard $100.00 deductible.

I had the same problem with the passenger side vents blowing warm air and my drivers side blowing very cold air. Also, my vents almost seemed to freeze up and quit blowing any air at all after using it for a while. I just added some freon this afternoon and I honestley turned the ac down in 95 degree heat this afternoon because it got so cold in my truck. So far the freon fixed my problem - it now blows cold air out of all vents.

It sounds like I have the same issue. I have cold air blowing from my drivers two vents, and warm / vent air blowing through the passangers 3 vents. This symptom just happened overnight so to speak. Could it be as simple as an A/C Recharge to correct?

It appears my selector swith works in all the different positions, ie, vent, defrost, food, or a mix thereof. Just seems strange that if a recharge was needed, that warmer air would only affect the 3 passenger vents, and not the drivers as well. Could this be an attempt to keep the driver cool?! I would think that all vents would gradually get warmer and warmer indicating a need for recharge.

I have had my truck to the dealer numerous times re: A/C related problems, but it has been a couple years since last visit. Have you had any other problems since your re-charge? Was it a do-it-yourself recharge, or did you take it to a shop? If you did it yourself, what kit to you reccomend?

Thanks for the help. Currently running mine on recirc. mode to keep the cab air getting cooler and cooler over time. U usually have a 2.5 to 3 hour drive, and eventually cools down.
