5.0L Vs. CTD

Theres a guy thats talking smack about his truck he thinks he can get his truck to the 13's with Heads, E303 Cam, headers and 3' exhaust. Oh by the way its a gasser. What if you take a 3500 CTD with a bulletproof auto tranny, #2 plate, remove the rackstop, and bigger turbo. Who do you think will cry? How much would just removing the rackstop add? I just want to shut him up. I already shut him up with the Excursion with just exhaust and little chip.

Re:5.0L Vs. CTD

you would need a #0 plate I don't think they make a #2 ???.
Also the rack stop does not add Hp really it just tells the pump when to give the engine fuel. This is for Green peace and all those tree huggers. Keeps Black smoke down under low boost conditions.
DM01

Re:5.0L Vs. CTD

I think he'd (5.0l) be lucky to get into the 13's like that.

Re:5.0L Vs. CTD

I told him with the money that he is wasting that we could have our trucks running like that maybe cheaper. Yesterday he thinks he is so fast that when one of my bestfriend that is a GIRL in a Camaro with the Alum bloc. Whooped his [censored] by like 4 car lengths he even got a rollin start! he said he taking down to the track tomorrow and putting slicks on it. I told him I would take my dad's excursion and leave the 33's on it. Drop the chip down to maybe 90hp or 100hp and still take him.Or make him feel really bad and put the new 150hp chip on there and tell him his truck really really sucks.

That sounds like one of those that will always have an excuse for getting beat. No matter what you say or do he won't give up thinking he has the best truck. There is one guy at work who has a 6L Chebby and still won't pull against me. He only wants to race empty.
Tom

So it's the iron block. The aluminum blocks didn't start going in till 1998. But still. Didn't he also say that 4 car lenghts wasn't that bad of a beating? The 5.0L engines are great little engines. They last forever (for a gasser) and you can hit em up with a 100 shot of gas (at least on the 89's) and they will take it like it's nothing. Now, with that said. This guy's engine is in a truck and it has almost 200K miles on it. So it's not going to last that long and it ain't never gonna run. I'm curious to see the time slip as to what he ran. I'm sure he's gonna lie and say it ran a low 14 or something.

Re:5.0L Vs. CTD

Didn't you say he put a set of GT-40 heads on there? And aren't those heads ported? Even still, it won't hit 14's. I was just saying that's what he'll say it ran. I want to see a time sheet though.

Is it a 94/95 Lightning? If so then it is possible to see 13's because its a 351 with aluminum heads and intake but it will need other mods (i.e. torque converter and good tires) If its a regular old F150 then he won't see 13's with just those mods. My 5.0 AOD notchback only hit 12.8@112 with stock heads cam intake. All it had was 4.10s, P.I. converter, 235/60/15 drag radials, 75 shot of nitrous, pulleys, mass air, and full exhaust.

WOW!!! This is an old post. It wasn't a lightning. Just a 94 ext cab, shortbed, 2wd F-150 with a 302. He eventually sold it and bought a 5.4L Ford. Poor guy. He's just confused.

To get to times in that range he will need one of those homemade ricer wings and a bunch of stickers near the front of the doors. One of those fancy ground wire kits wouldn't hurt either. Oh yea, and a big tach on the dash (doesn't need to be hooked up).
