4x4 steering box mounting plate

Why do we have it on the W trucks and not the D trucks? I am on my second cracked plate. I know they remove it to do the crossover setup. Is it a clearance issue that requires the use of that plate?

Would a dropped pitman arm allow clearance for the draglink to eliminate the plate? I don't understand why I'm on my second plate when I never take the truck off road and I'm running stock 235/85-16 tires.

I think I read that you need a lift to use crossover steering. How much of a lift I do not remember.

I've heard you need 4" or more of lift to get the crossover steering to work.

Oh how I wish I had highsteer crossover steering.

Yes I believe you need at least 4 in . of lift to run crossover steering but it's worth Every Penny you spend on it makes the truck alot more fun to drive .

Are you using the redesigned steering box mount ? The New box bracket PN # 52037876 is slightly thicker then the original. As for the reinforcement bracket is being reproduced by Dodge Connection @ $48.00

For a How To on boxing the frame at the box see this link to Ramcharger Central

Crossover on a non lifted truck is hit or miss and will require a fair bit of mods to get it to work. The major issue is the engine cross member the drag link could be bent for some clearance but it would take a lot.
