48RE temp numbers?
I just put a trans temp gauge in an 06 48RE. Normal driving on interstate it runs about 140 degrees. If he's in town and doing a lot of stop and go with moderate accel. it can go as high as 175. Are these normal? He hasn't pulled with it yet. I put a Geno's Acu Temp Adapter on the hot line going to the cooler and was just checking to see if it works correctly. Thanks.

Wow, really? Where is the probe mounted?? I think i have mine in the pan and i see 180-185*....drove to flagstaff this past weekend and got stuck in a 2 hour accident backup when it was 105*....trans got to about 190* on my guage.....so i'm assuming you have yours mounted in the line??

I'm pretty sure he probably does. I have mine mounted in the coolant line and it gets that hot in rush-hour traffic as well. Mine averages around 170°-185° on the interstate. Your's is gonna be significantly lower if it is mounted in the pan. I'm sure you know that though......

Well obviously that's pretty disconcerning....if i'm showing 190* and others (with the probe in the line) are showing 230-240*....i mean that's a 40-50* dfference...i suppose i should start worrying about trans temp when mine shows anything above 190*

I have mine in the test port and with a heat gun I have measured the pan, lines and my probe. My gauge, probe and line all measured the same 180* while the pan(stock) measured 20* cooler. How accurate this is I don't know but it's close enough for me.

Mine's installed per Quadzilla spec's for the Commander.
It runs normal 145*-160* back and forth to work and around town. Towing, 160*-170*, and have seen it go as high as 220* on big climbs pulling 14K.

I have been wondering if my converter is going bad and that is the reason for the high temps. But I also wonder if the probe is bad due to the fact that I added the pml pan and did my own flush and added 14 qts of fluid and saw zero change in the temps. IssPro wont warranty the gauge because they say it is still in the parameters of a normal gauge because it can take up to 20 minutes of driving to get to those temps. So I am hesitant to spend the money to buy a new gauge and find out it is something else, but if I spend the money on a converter, I know it is money well invested because I need one anyway because I plan to really crank up my smarty. So right now I am just stashing money away for a converter and vb or full tranny upgrade.
