48 RE Shifting Issue
My transmission when placed in drive and when I take off from a start (or in first gear), seems to hang in first gear to an unusually high RPM shift point. Pressing on the throttle, it feels light and seems to be surging, almost like there is air in the fuel lines. It has only happened when it has been run for at least an hour. Other than the vibration plague, this is the only issue I have had in 12,000 miles.
Anyone experience the same or have any insight?

Re:48 RE Shifting Issue
Yeah, mine does that too.. It will stay in first gear for what seems like forever. The surging part, I have no idea.
It seems like when I take off pretty quick (or give it alot from the go pedal) from a dead stop it does this.

Mine does it at light throttle.....like at certain position only. This is something new...will have to watch it. It feels like the throttle cable is binding when this happens. I wonder if there is a transmission link where the throttle linkage connects.

Re:48 RE Shifting Issue
yes, i have similar problems w/my 48re. i see it mostly when i try and pass another vehicle - floor it and nothing. i have had better results "building-up" momentum and only depressing the go peddle slightly - i heard that a chip will resolve this phenom. who knows - the torque converter on the dodges still _____s (an attempt to avoid that pesky moderator.) ;D and the automatic shift program is not designed very well. so, i think the problem is two-fold: fuel programming and automatic transmission program (add junk torque converter into the mix).
