Question 47re?

My transmission 47 re is taking a long time to shift from 1st to 2nd. Sometimes it works just fine. This started about 4 days ago. What should I do? The truck has 10200 now. 92000 when I bought it. Where do I start?

Start with a trans fluid & filter change if not done in recent memory. How's the fluid level (checked in park w/ engine running while trans is warm)? Does the fluid smell burnt at all?

Correction: Check in NEUTRAL, hot, with engine running. I have also read recently where cleaning battery cables and grounds has made shifts improve on our electronic controlled tannies. I don't know why, other than better paths for signals to flow.

I have what appears to be a leaking front seal on my 47RE, and will likely be ordering the goodies from Goerend soon to upgrade.

What yr CTD? Fill in signature so we can give better educated guesses.

If original batteries... may want to have them tested. Weak batterys can cause all kinds of eratic electronic behavior. If either weak...be sure to change both!
