47re...similar transmission to what

The reason I ask is im looking for a good overhaul manual for the 47re and i can seem to find anything. I find a lot of the other chrysler transmission manuals, just not the 47re. I have a factory sevice manual and it seems to go through more diagnostics then teardown/overhaul. Is the FSM the best manual or have you found other manuals to work from too?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes the factory service manual is without a doubt the best info. Very complete.
Of course there are things that could be added to make the 47re more durable/dependable.

From what I understand the 47RH and the 47RE are both based on the 727 tranny. The main difference is the addition of the OD unit. The manuals should br similar.

The RH has a mechanical governor, the RE is computer controlled pressure, the late 48RE's are computer controlled - other than that, the valve body is different, with solenoids, but the mechanical internals are near identical - use the 48RE stuff in the 47's for increased strength - the A500\518\618 pretty much covers it
