47RE lockup
I have been fighting with my 99 for 10 years and 432,000 miles. Done all of the fixes; Terminals, cables, alternator, APPS wiring, ground wires, APPS, new alternator wire out of harness etc. Put volt meter on APPS wiring and got consistent voltage with throttle, no visible problem. Problem definetely seems to be more of an issue with the summer heat and using the air conditioner. Also put volt meter on the alternator wire. In cool weather voltage output seems to be 14.30 to 14.50 volts and usually no lockup problems. When it gets hot weather or increased load from Air conditioner the voltage drops to 13.90 to 14.20 and lockup problems gets really bad. I here the voltage is controlled by the PCM or ECM. I think the problem would be solved if the system voltage was maintained at 14.50 or above. I have even had it jump out several times hitting a sharp bump in the road.
Has anybody else found the same or know how to program or adjust the PCM or alternator to maintain the 14.5 volts. If one of those dodge engineers sees this please hit me back.
