47RE in limp mode

47RE in limp mode
While in stock configuration my 47RE went in to limp mode. It won't shift in to overdrive and won't start out in low (D1). If I go from neutral to D1, it is okay and I can shift manually through D1, D2 & Drive.
The fluid was okay and no codes were captured when I took it to Auto Zone.
I changed the governor pressure transducer & solenoid, but the ole 47RE is still in limp mode (purchased them from the Dodge dealer).
Anyone have any ideas?
I wasn't ready to buy a billet transmission yet after I just added the FASS, Juice, etc.

I had the battery cables disconnected for the best part of a day when I installed the Edge Juice.
I don't know what a mystery switch is, so I would guess I don't. Everything was working fine up until about 2 weeks ago.
As for connectors and grounds, everything looked clean, but I plan on getting underneath it over the weekend to look a lot closer.
The 10 amp fuse was good.
Just thought about the battery cables. I did not disconnect them since I installed the new solenoid and transducer. I'll go out and do that to see if that works now that their changed.

Well for the no OD, your transmission temperature sensor could have gone out on you. For not wanting to start out in 1st, there are correction kits for that. You can also install a Trans-Go shift improver kit while you're in there. The Trans-Go could help stave off the need for a billet trans for a little while (should you not abuse your truck too much).
Oh and just a side note; modest power doesn't require a billet trans... Just a few internal updates, a VB (or shift kit), and a decent single disc billet TC. *PM for details*

I had a similar problem and it was the connector o nthe tranny, water got in there and the corrosion did it in. Cleaned it up, reset the computer and the code and it worked fine

I've read elsewhere that a cause for this problem is a leaking valvebody.
Looks like a rebuild is in order; even though I wasn't ready to do it yet.

I changed the Speed Output Sensor this evening. Transmission is still in limp mode.
I guess I'll have to take the truck to Tucson Dodge aaarrrrggggghhhhhhh!
I've talked to a couple of the transmission builders and they'd prefer I find the problem before getting the rebuild done; which makes sense.

Bad news, I changed the PCM and the problem still exists. The Dodge service department troubleshot the problem to the PCM. I ordered a refurbished PCM which was loaded with the most recent program (PN 56040199AD).
I took the truck for a drive and it still starts out is high (D3) with no overdrive (limp mode).
Prior to changing the PCM, I changed the Governor Pressor Sensor & Solenoid which did not fix the problem. Then I changed the Speed output sensor which did not fix the problem.
I also changed the Speed Sensor on the rear differential (fixed my ABS and Brake light on problem.
There was no voltage to the Transmission Relay according to the Dodge service department. The relay and fuse was good.
I am at wits end and do not know what to do next.
As far as I know, the only thing left is the transmission itself. I read somewhere that a leak in the valve body caused this problem.
Any ideas????

Can you manually shift this truck? If so it must be an electric problem.
You may want to look around for a transmission shop that has a "Trans-X" tool.
This tool plugs into the transmission and lets you drive the truck, eliminating all the electronics on the truck including the wire harness. If it works with the trans-x the problem is with the truck, if it does not work with the trans-x the problem is in the tranny. A shop that will make the investment for the trans-x should be able to diagnose this. Or you could limp it up here to NH and I'll give it a shot. lol.

Hey, I've had this problem and if i'm correct your going to shoot yourself.
Mine did the same thing. i was allways in limp mode. it is the quick disconnects on the battery on the passenger side. There are two of them one goes back to the engine and one goes to the computer. Take the two grey disconects out and sauder them back together. While in there clean the post.
An old family friend told me about it. Apperently that was a problem in this year mobel truck. It is just a bad link in the wiring.
From what i gather this is what is wrong. Please don't shoot yourself.

I've had thid problem on my truck. I searched in on here and a few other sites, and it turned out to be a gov. solenoid and transducer. Took it to dodge under warranty. The said that was the problem but they had to replace the whole Valve Body for warranty purposes. My truck had the same symptoms as yours, and D1 would only work if shifting manually.
