47RE won't come out of 1st
Can anyone help me here?
'01 2500 47re trans will not shift out of 1st unless I release the pedal above 2200rpm, let it decelerate, feel the shift then accelerate again. If I’m going up a hill at the decel/accel point it will hunt for 1st and 2nd. After it gets past the 2nd gear point it runs fine. Come to a stop and it won’t come out of 1st again.
Coasting around a corner it will act fine.
Has anyone experienced this? This just started yesterday, no problems before that.
What could it be?
Thanks in advance.

And the bands were adjusted last when??? You could have dropped the anchor for the kickdown band. Drop the pan and check it out. Another possiblility is the the seal in the front clutch retainer is leaking bad.

Found the problem, it was the anchor, it was in the pan. Thanks. Any suggestion on a new transmission? I love my truck, but I don't trust this transmission, never have - never will.

How long have you had the truck? How many miles on it? Have you ever done any maintenance on the trans?
Don't go blaming the trans if you've never done any upkeep or maintenance on it.
