4 Wheel Parts Houston?

Has anyone done business with 4 Wheel Parts on Gessner in Houston, TX?
I have searched and found mixed results on this company in general. I am looking for a shop to do some simple installs, shocks, lights, etc. Thanks.

if you're not happy w/ 4wheel parts, i would try bnc offroad in pasadena. they do installs, repairs and even custom jobs.

When I priced tires at 4WP, I found that they add a lot of "add on" charges, such as a $150 "shop charge" for mounting tires. Their sale prices for "cash and carry" are pretty good most of the time.

I have delt with the 4WheelParts on Gessner for 3 years or so. I have been able to deal for the things I wanted and pretty much got a good price. They just did the leveling kit removal, rear block swap, new shocks, balanced and mounted the Power Wagon take offs and full alignment. So far I have been satisfied with the work they have done for me. Call Sean and tell him John with the black Dodge told you to call.

BTW, Sean drives a 2005 Dodge 2500 4x4 CTD 6sp.

I have had mixed results with 4WP most recently with cost of BFGs were asking $1003 before mounting because of extra hidden fees. I picked up my set mounted and balanced for $745.

I found them extremely unknowledgeable when I had my Rodeos rear R&P swapped. What made me made is I told them what parts to order and install and they completely ignored me ordered the wrong parts didn't fit had to order the parts I asked for installed them and then tried to charge me for 2
installs (labor). I told them tough poo!!

I have found some of there tire and wheel packages mounted and balances pretty cool and have bought a set for a friends rig.

Overall not to happy with 4WP a last resort for me.

I have had some dealings with them. It was for my Jeep. I will never go back to them. I wanted to purchase their buy 3 get one free scam on Procomp Xterrains and they wouldnt sell them to me because my Jeep didnt have enough lift on it to fit 35"s in their opinion.
So I went to discount tire bought 4 35" BFG M/T's for 150 dollars less than their buy 3 get one scam. Plus I got a much better tire in the BFG's.
Thats just my opinion, this isnt the only time I had a problem, just the most recent.

Every 4WheelParts and just about every other auto accessory/repair store is going to be as good as the individuals that work that particular location. Franchise or company owned policies are going to dictate a frame work, but most local managers have a fair amount of flexibility. The store on Gessner in Houston has been a good place to do business with and have given me reasonable prices. Sometimes I do haggle, sometimes it works and sometimes not.

I agree on the "the people in the store" comment. The guys that used to be in Plano were pretty good, but the ones there a few week ago stumbled at every question I asked them.

Here's an example of their marketing strategy. This for the Pro Comp All Terrain, 50K mile tire in 285x75x16. The prices are from their monthly magazine.

Aug 2006 - $148.99 Promo: Four tires AND WHEELS you get $200 gift card. Total for tires only is $595.96

Sep 2006 - $169.99 Promo: Any suspension, tire & wheel pkg & get an Audiovox dvd/combo for $99. Total for tires only is 679.96

Oct 2006 - $184.99 Promo: Buy 3 Get 1 Free. Total for tires only is $554.99 (their #)

I guess in some cases, their prices or not the bad. But, when I called them a few months ago, the same tire was $119.39 each. After they added the warranty, mount, balance, stems and SHOP FEE OF $150.00, the $477.56 tires came to a total of $722.03. $244.47 is way more than I have ever paid over the actual price of a set of tires, and I've bought a lot of tires.

You be the judge..........

Yep, Sure can tell they work off commission, they try to add in every little fee they can. What's fun is asking them to meet their online prices, they give all kinds of bs reasons on why they can't. I would NEVER buy from the Austin location. I have purchased from online store w/o problems.
