Two things come to mind,,,,(1) it wasnt all the way locked in to 4-wheel or
(2) some trucks dont like being thrashed on.

Just curious here. What would warrant a "launch" in 3rd gear 4-lo? You can't go but about 5mph. Pulling a stump?

Is your t-case a manual or electric?

its electric,I am trying to figure out what gear to use for sled pulling.some say 3 low, some say 2 high.my first pull will be next month just trying to find out what gear to use.only thing i can figure is there must be some sensor that calls for the transfer case to kick out upon higher revs.if anyone knows if this is correct or is there another problem.

just found out from dealer that it does have a speed limiter in the transfer case that causes this problem.I guess ill try 4 hi 2 gear. only thing is some say you can break stuff in high range.Or maybe that was duramax guys saying their stuff breaks in 4hi.

Ask that dealer where the speed limiter is. I have the same t-case and have never had a problem. I think they looked up the wrong vehicle.

I think your right,I have talked to others that say it only has a motor my guess is the fork or a bearing i am going to another dealer Tuesday he said he would check the electrical system, motor. If all checks out good then its the transfer case ill keep you posted on what i find. What troubles me is i havnt put the truck in 4wheel drive more than 7maybe 8 times from the time i bought it.
