4" muffler

I have been doing a lot of long distance hauls lately with a stock trailer and the straight pipe on the '03 is just too loud. The original exhaust was replaced with a 4" strait pipe so I am just looking for a free flowing 4" muffler that will tone things down a bit, fit with my existing setup, and not increase my EGT's too much. I don't want to spend a pile of money so is there a good non-stainless muffler available that has a nice tone to it for a reasonable price? Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem with the 05...hated the drone towing. I have a 30" MBRP, it is just right, not stock sound, but not too loud, even when towing.

silent might muffler

They've had a lot of threads on this topic at TDR, supposedly the best muffler for a diesel out there that is a true 4" (can drop a 4" ball and it will fall through) is the Silent Might. Only thing right now is that they're out of stock.

I emailed them, and told them I wanted on a list when they are back in stock, didn't hear back from them, I'm gonna call. They have audio clips on the above link to listen to in cab, and under accellation, etc.
Here's some links to the article at TDR

I'd recommend the Silverline. It sounds good and there isn't that much of a drone. I removed it b/c it wasn't loud enough for me, but I am partially deaf.

Got my 40" Nelson from my local Cummins store for $67 CDN. 4" straight through, not real loud, no drone but not stainless (for that kinda money what would you expect?).
Part no, pics etc in my gallery.

I just ordered a Magnaflow direct fit 4" SS muffler. $200 with a 5" tip. It looks to be about a 24" muffler, so it maytake the edge off the staight pipe. I'll post some clips once I put it on.
