4" high flow but quiet exhaust

Ok I wanna go with a 4" exhaust to increase flow and reduce EGTs but I don't want any more noise than necessary. If I could make it where you couldn't hear it running at all but increase flow I'd be more than happy. Yea I know that's impossible but you get my point
So I'm thinkin muffler plus resonator?
Also I've read that some exhaust kits don't have a 4" down pipe but the rest of it is 4"??? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?
So who would you guys suggest for an aluminized fully 4" system that doesn't blow me out of the cab?

i just installed a 4" magnaflow today, doesn't sound much different at idle but it's a little louder than stock up around 1800 and up, i removed what i think is my catalytic and went with a straight through muffler, so far i'm not blown out of the cab with sound. good luck

I have the 4 inch magna flow system (366USD delivered to my door, in Canada) its no louder, at least that I can tell from the orginal, I'm thinking I need a shorter muffler(its a long straight thru) to make it rumble a little, my engine noise far exceeds the tail pipe noise!!

BTW I bought from Hottexhaust, and its a stainless 4 inch front to back, bolted on in 15mins after cutting the old one off with a sawzall

Hmmm We have 2 magnaflows, no one has suggested MBRP.
I figured they would be the top of the list.

most flow through mufflers should fit the bill. I decided to put one on my 5" system and i like it. Its almost stock at idle (except for the turbo whistle) and it only gets loud when you really put your foot in it. even then its not "straight pipe" loud. its actually bearable to drive on long distances now (used to have 3" straight).

It's an aluminized 4"
I didn't see on the ebay site what that one was made of. It says 98-02
Mine's a 96. Not sure if it will fit.

What about yr models.
MBRP says 94-2002 for a particular system.
The ebay site is listing 98-2002.
Anyone think this is just a typo?
I'd hate to buy it only to find that it won't fit my 06 12 valve.

I was thinking of replacing the "cat" with a 2nd muffler.... any thoughts how that might help? Anyone try it yet?

I have been running with nothing after the cat for years, just added a Volant muffler and tailpipe back and there is a large difference, but it's still loud.

I'm also thinking about thermal wrapping the exhaust manifold and turbo and oil pan (I forget which company makes them) which I herd really quiets the engine noise.
