Talking 3rd gen turbo on a 1st gen dodge

I have a 92 12 valve that has a bad exhaust from the turbo flange back to my stack , I want to put a new 4 inch pipe from the turbo back. Also my dad just bought an ats 3000 turbo for his 04 dodge , and we want to put his old turbo on my truck , I need some help on to how is the best way to do this ,and if anyone has done it before help from any one would be grateful thanks.

So is his truck an early 04, or an 04.5? They have slightly different turbos just so you know Mr. sixgun.

The early 04 turbo is pretty small.
Don't know if it would be an upgade from what you got.

I think it is a 56/58/9 and the 04.5+ turbos on the 325 hp engines were a 60/60/9 IIRC.

Well from what iv been reading the he351cw is what I want I don't know if that is what he has or not but I would think with a smaller turbine housing it would spool faster than what I got but then I might lose some top end ? Not sure

His being an early 04 is an HE341....Not 351.

"The Head" used one.

Sounds crappy on paper but it's lightyears ahead of a 1st gen. It'll certainly spool faster and sound cooler. Slap it on there.

YOu have gauges? do a before and after with old turbo vs. new turbo off your Dad's truck.

Ok well thanks, does it have a silencer ring I can take off . And would it be easier to fit anew exhaust if I had the 4 inch down pipe piece that he needs 4 his new turbo or can I fit it right to the back of the turbine housing?
