3rd gen stock turbo swap ???s

Ive been thinking about swaping a 3rd gen turbo on my 97 12valve, It seems like they should be better than my hx35 but im not an expert on these turbos. Ive been looking around and the ones that ive seen have some electronic plug on the compressor what is it for? Are the oil feed and return the same style? So is it worth swapping

Any help would be great!

I noticed that the flange is not divided on the 04.5-06 electronically controlled wastegated turbos. I don't know how much it would affect spoolup.

Does anyone know if a 03-04 turbo is the same as 04.5-06 other than the electronics for the waste gate?

I'm working on a modified HE351, it will have a 2nd Gen HY35 cover, mechanical wastegate, 1" wastegate volute, and the turbine wheel will be clipped 10°. All HY35 versions have an undivided inlet.

Don, did you notice that the HE351cw has a 2mm larger turbine wheel? I'm sure you could/can machine that much no problem. Does the 10 degree clipped wheel flow better on the topend?

I will mic the difference between the HE341 and HE351. The clip on the turbine is equal to opening up the turbine AR ratio helping the overall flow of the turbine wheel.

i dont think that your housing from the hy35 will work its a lil bigger than the bearing housing on a HE351.

I'm not worried, I might know how to solve that problem. The inducer bore needs to be opened up and the surge pocket will probably be opened up 0.010" also.
