Thumbs up 3rd Gen Cab Fresh Filter Kit

Just wanted to post that I gave it a go and am pretty pleased so far with the kit. It literally takes about 30 seconds a side and NO tools to install. Just snaps right in and has little retaining hooks to keep it there. Keeps the air a lot fresher in the cab, I can be behind diesel vehicles and not smelling anything.. Pretty nice little mod for $50. I got mine from Geno's. Just a FYI to those that considered it but hadn't heard anything yet.

Does it mount right up against the cab inlet? What is the filter media? How long do you think it will filter for?

I am looking at putting a carbon activated filter over the screened area inside the cowl as that is the inlet to the interior.

Scotty, that would work better for the fume situation if you had something inside the cowl. I still haven't taken my cowl off to see if I have the flapper valves missing or not. . This actually mounts on top of the cowl, between the windshield and hood. According to cabfresh, the filter lasts a year and is unaffected by water.

I was missing all four flaps but I just covered up two with foil tape. The dealer put two flappers in the bottom holes. I have a meeting with a commercial filter manufacturer on Monday. I also read about the HEGA filters but we are talking some big dollars for one filter.

3-500.00 per.

Activated carbon is not that expensive. Although the HEGA does more then odors.

Could you please educate me about said "flapper valves" ? I, too, have the odor inside my cab. What do I need to remove to inspect & evaluate ? Thanks in advance.......

Greg do a search on cab fumes - that's really not what this thread is about, and there are plenty of threads on it!

Could you be a little more specific, I've searched for 1 1/2 hours and haven't found it yet.

Hemi cat - you searched for 1.5 hours and didn't pick up a phone and call?

Well it was right where I expected - dodge, interior accessories. Not sure where you were looking.

Lightman, are you still happy with the Cabfresh filters? Would you have any pictures that shows the fit of the filter to the cowl? Thanks.

if i'd kept the packaging they came in i would have sent them back. i still smell smoke fumes, oil fumes, and fuel fumes after i drain my water separator, no noticeable difference. also i rarely use the outside air setting because of the poor heater and A/C performance. imo there are some things in the genos catalog that one can do without, putting it nicely. don't see where they get $60 out of some plastic and foam.

I am still happy with mine. While I agree it does not do much to reduce odors, what it does do is drastically reduce dust/pollen from coming in. I have seasonal allergies, and it definitely helps. There is less overall dust in the truck also. Other than that, for the money, I'm happy. I unfortunately don't have any pics, but it just snaps down into the cowl and fits nicely. I am so used to them I dont even notice them there. Its not like you typically are looking thru the portion of the windshield that's under the wipers..thats about all the visual space they take up.

I am also generally happy with this filter. Helps a great deal with both pollen and road dust. Not as happy with the fasteners--I will have to take some wire and fasten mine down tight. Several of the plastic clips have pulled off and won't hold down now (either broke off or are bent and have a "memory" so won't catch and hold under the grill). It would be nice if they would make those fasteners more robust.

Thanks guys, both my wife and one of our Border Collies have allergies and anything that will help reduce the junk coming into the cab is worth it. I will keep an eye on the clips when I install them. OR4ster, have you contacted Cabfresh regarding the clip problem?
