Question 3GSK or 4GSK?

looking at changing the GSK but was told that the 3000GSK can just go in and if the 4000GSK goes in that you have to upgrade other parts. Mine is a daily driver and do alot of long distance driving atleast 2 times a week. The longest the truck has drivin so far is about 18hours straight stopping to fuel up.
The truck is not for racing but it sure is nice when a ford or chev races by to step on it and show them what a Cummins can do

The 3k gets my vote unless you are really wanting some hard higher rpm fueling. The 4k springs are really peaky and sometimes tough to find a happy medium with for everyday driving. Just my $.02

Speed = Money

How fast do you want to go?

Buy the 3, run it, get bored, then upgrade to the 4.

buy the 4k, don't rev past 3400 or so... or buy the good valvesprings and run to over 4000

I'll only run the 4k's in my trucks because they fuel harder even below 3000

On my 175HP pump it only revs to 3400RPM with the 4k kit. I am pretty sure that a 160 pump would be the same.

What he said

why not just do it once with the GSK, and get the 4K, its what i have, and as stated, i dont run it that often over 3400 rpms, i lose power by there anyways... Either way ull be happy, but may as well get the most u can now...

I wanna get something cleared up. When u install a 3gsk or 4gsk, does it add any power down low? Or is it just to keep fueling after the stock defuel point? What i wanna change on my truck is that if i'm light on the pedal and acelling past 2100 or so it doesn't have much pull, but If my foot is in the pedal it will pull really hard through 2500. Will a gsk make it so the same pull is there on light throttle past 2100 as there is down low? (make sense? lol)

To answer your question the GSK extends the defueling point past 21-2200 RPMs. With your smaller pump, it'll defuel around maybe 2800, which is plenty of RPMs for a DD and hauler.

ok, so it doesn't affect anything below the ~2100-2200 defuel point?

my experience is that a 4k fuels harder down low than a 3k...

Travis sorry to hijack but I'm interested in this topic because I am about to purchase the springs that are needed to make my 3k a 4k also plan to upgrade my valve springs while I'm at it. Are these mods worth doing with the stock turbo? I plan to upgrade soon to what ever money will allow. oh by the way Trav this mod makkes a wourld of differance and in my opinion an absalute must........

In answer to 2 questions

Box5,

The GSK will merely give you the illusion that your truck is more powerful IMHO, you will simply broaden your existing powerband from defueling at 2200 rpms or so (with stock plate) to a much more content 2600-2800 with a plate and 3K GSK. In ur case the smaller pump that will be it, my 887 will fuel till about 3000 before it starts to run out of steam. But u have no adverse effects down low....

Schoust...

The 4 GSK combined with ur other mods will REALLY be nice U will feel that the pedal is directly linked to the tach if the GSK is installed right.. However, do be prepared for a touchy idle or touchier pedal early on, in comparison to the 3K kit, its nothing drastic tho, just might take some minor gettin used to.. I ran a 4K with a stock turbo for a while before i placed a 400 under it...

no problem about the questions schoust. It's nice to have the input and advice of what works and how or what to buy. I think I will just get the 4K and not bother with the 3K's. I can't wait to get the GSK and a cam plate soon as I can get some $. Thanks for your input guys!!!
