Re:370 part number?

You'd probably be better off getting them from Rod @ Wildcat, in my opinion. Im sure theyre cheaper from rod than from Cummins. If in fact you are trying to buy a set.

Re:370 part number?

I am a mechanic at a equipment dealership and we are a cummins dealer so I can get them at cost I just didn't want to do the research to find the part number since we don't have any books.

Re:370 part number?

Somebody stated a while back that a certain part number for the 370's had a spray pattern that shot the fuel into the cup of the piston which helped with smoke and egt's does anyone recall the part number.

Re:370 part number?

All the current 370's from Bosch pop test within 1% of each other. I have tested a truck load of them here with calibrated equipment that is a world away from the average pop tester a rebuilder or injection shop would use. Bosch builds a very consistant product and anything they produce now is so close in tolerance it is amazing.

There are two part numbers. Which is better depends on many varibles in your set-up. Both use the same number of holes and same size of holes. Both use the same exact spray pattern of 155 degrees. 10 degrees wider than the stock 145.
This is because the marine engines use a toroidal style cumbustion bowl VS the re-entrant style on the stock pistons in the Dodge/Cummins engine.

There are some other internal differences I wont get into, but for anyone using a 370 in our trucks...the injectors are all the same and one will not work better or right compared to the other until serious tuning begins for the last tiny HP.

I dynoed them both back to back...same, same everytime...except a few minor differences.

The reason for two parts numbers goes back to the Diamond customers using these engines in a variety of conditions and one covers more of the conditions better than the other in the 370 engine. These differences play no large part in our truck engines.

The injectors often referred to as the "right" ones are the first generation with the "wrong" ones being the updated version. The updates covered some of the stinky idle reported by boat users and cold starting.

I do not have the "tip number" though. As Don said,

I sent him a PM with the part number yesterday. I did not want to pop it on here, but I guess it does not matter anyhow. Some vendors get nervous when you give away part numbers. I did not want to step on anyones toes in a public forum. I know for a fact that some vendors would have a cow if their turbo part numbers ended up on the forums and thought perhaps it could extend to the injectors as well.

Back when Joe Donnelly first gave the 370 part number to Piers...it was kinda kept secret. I guess the 12 valve market is dying off now and does not make a bit a difference.

Re:370 part number?

i for one believe that these secretive diesel gurus would make more money if they would be more user friendly. i for one will not buy from one that gives me the run around. i will do without til i find someone who will help with a reasonable price and info. they cant hide this stuff forever.
