3600 dd Help!!

I've only had my SB DD 3600 for a year maybe. It has been nothing but trouble for me. Granite it has held very well for everything I've done and a lot of the problems just come from the annoying fact that it's not sprung hub. When I take off with a little gas as I let off it makes a noticeable squeek sound. Tonight I did a little burnout not half as big as a lot that I've seen and when I got done the pedal was down to the floor and would not come back for a few seconds when I then worked it through the gears. I did not ride the clutch, I let it go and tapped the brakes a tad just to slow the truck down a little but did not hold them. I have heard of this with single disks but dual? Anybody help please. I do not want to spend 5k on clutches in 1 year or I would have gotten an auto.

Repeat after me:

Intentional clutch slippage will destroy any clutch in short order.

Ever use an angle grinder? Well its the same deal...it gets hot and you see sparks...next thing your putting a new wheel on it....same deal with clutches...wear them out and guess what...time to rebuild!

Yup, might be time for a rebuild.

Do you have the hydraulic upgrade? Make sure your good on fluid if you do.

does a rebuild include buying a whole new clutch or just pads? What is the usual $$ for that?

Chet,
Not trying to speak for Peter here or anything but typically rebuilds are much less than retail price for a current SBC DD owner.

On a rebuild every wear item is replaced (basically ends up being like new again).

Here is the one I bought. Great jack and works great. The seller has also taken care of me on one little issue I had with it:

When you talk to Peter you may as well see about gettin a 3850lb pressure plate to go with it. I would not think this would be in the rebuild kit but it may save you from doin this again.

You really only need one extra set of hands to change it and that is for the removal and reintall of the flywheel. It would also help when reintallin the trans too.

Just make sure you got a good tranny jack and take your time. It aint rocket science, just kinda labor intensive.
Plus you got all the knowledge you could need from this site if you do have any questions.
