35" & the 3rd/4th gear hunt
So I moved up to 35's and now I am regretting due to the '05 tranny not holding third. Truck is a PITA to drive in 50 to 60 mph traffic. Short of going back to a 33" tire, is there a solution to get the tranny to hold third until I want it to shift?

Did you have you truck updated for the new tire size in the computer system?
I'm wondering since having a 35" vs 31.6" your speed is off by 5mph in the 50-60 range which may make the tranny shift in and out of 4th TC lock-up. IIRC TC lock-up is between 47-52mph.

Yep, updated speedometer with smarty. It's dead on accurate. Tranny issue is the fact that it will upshift to 4th to soon. I would prefer it to stay locked in third. I know on the 06 they added a 4th gear lockout to the tow haul mode. Is there any upgrade to the 05 for this? In traffic right when you want to lightly excellerate with traffic it upshifts dropping the rpm's right where it lugs the motor leaving a cloud of annoying smoke. In stop and go traffic it is irritating to say the least. I have tried using the tow haul but it still upshifts just delayed a few seconds longer.

That's the reason I went back to stock size tires, living in a hilly area, my rig was always doing the 3-4 shift. Of coarse it doesn't help that the speed limit on the limited access hiway is 50mph.
Loved the look, the performance wise it sucked. So function follows form.

Well I have found that BD makes a plug in pressure controller for this issue. I have read that ATS also makes a lockout switch for 4 th gear, so now I just have to decide what route to go. I need control arms 1st. Who know's maybe I'll just deal with it until these tires wear out and go back to 33's. I kick myself for buying 35's, love the look but the truck drove perfect with 33's on it and got great mileage. I ruined that just cuz of a "look" I had to have. Another lesson learned the hard way.... Thanks to all for the reply's.
