33x12.5 16" Tires Load Rating?

Hello all. I have an opportunity to get a good deal on some Goodyear Wrangler AT/S in the size mentioned in the title with some 10x16" wheels. My problem is that when I look up the load rating for the tires on tire rack it is a C rated tire good for 2200lbs. My current Bridgstone Revo 265/75/16E's are rated at 3400lbs. I know I have read many on DTR talk of using this size of tire, but I have to wonder what would happen if I threw my camper in the back with these 33's on. I would be at their max load rating. How do the members that run these tires get away with it with any weight in the bed?

I would never even consider putting "C"s on these trucks.

I currently have "D"s and don't like the way they bulge with no load in the truck.

E's will be on my truck after these wear out, and forever more.

There are other brands that are load rated at E in that tire size. Interco Trxus is the one that comes to mind because that is what I am currently running. (285s though)

I would recommend a load rating of nothing less than D. If you plan to haul or tow anything, you should probably be looking at E's.

BFG now makes a 285/75/16(33x11.5) E rated AT KO rated at 3700 lbs. The D rated 285/75/16 is rated at 3300 lbs. The 285s are perfect on a 16x8 rim. They also have a 305/70/16 At KO rated at 2900lbs. The 305 size is equal to 33x12.5. This is off the BFG PDF spec sheet on their web site. I think the BFG AT KO is a much better tire than the Goodyear AT/S. If I had to buy Goodyear, my choice would be the MT/R. I think you will have alot of fender rubbing with a 16x10 rim without a lift kit. 16x10s stick out far enough to rub the fender liner on tight turns. 16x8s pinch 12.5 inch wide tires a little but fit better on an unlifted truck.

Well said..

I have some load range D liberators on my truck. Towing 20K lbs two weekends ago for a short 45 mile trip i was not too happy with the way that they bulged out, Load range D's work well for soft rides and work best when towing my dads two horse S&H around, but for serious weight.. u need a serious tire.. Sure the 285 might hold more weight or is supposed to, but lookin at that sidewall through the mirror.. well.. u know its kinda worryin and

out_drsman how are you liking your tires. Those are the exact tires I am thinking I want to get when mine need to be retired (prob around end of summer) I feel the need to research everything exhaustively before parting with cash. Just wondering how they rode, wore and such things on a truck as heavy as ours.

They are actually wearing pretty well. I am somewhat surprised. I have the MT and don't think that I would go that route again. I don't do that much off road stuff and I think the ATs would do just as well.

Here north-east Oklahoma our mud is generously mixed with our beautiful red clay. Thick nasty tire clogging stuff. So even though I don't do a LOT of off-road I want the aggressive tread.

Plus my wife wants a set on her 4Runner in about a month. If she gets them, so do I, since her's sees almost no off-road use...

Toyo makes an Open Country A/T in a 305/70/16 that is 10 ply and E rated. You can get them at les schwab.
