I am looking to purchase a few 2001-2006 33k gvw trucks for work, and am looking for opinions on the engine selections available to me. Most that I come across are Internationals with a dt560, and some Freightliners with either a 3126 or c7 CAT, or a 8.3 Cummins

I havent heard much good about the c7's but Ive never owned one either. the dt560's have jake brakes, which are nice, but I would consider an 8.3 with an exhaust brake too. My plans are for pulling a 25000 semi trailer, so truck will be around 50-60000 gcvw often times. just looking for some insight. Also want reliability. Thanks

I'd stay away from the 8.3's with the CAPS pumps. They are nothing but problems for us. Our 2006 8.3 common rails have been really reliable and i would recommend them. haven't had much experience with a DT560 but aren't they basically a DT466 ?
