3200 Spring

Alright I've been looking at this 3200 spring in the plastic bag for several months now and have been hesitant to mess with it. Well, I pulled the travel trailer down to the coast this weekend and was wishing it was installed. So today I spent several minutes calling around to various pump shops and the likes seeing if any would be willing to install it. Out of lot I called only one was willing but required me to pull the pump as he stated the hi-low idle adjustments would just be to difficult to assure correct settings and blah, blah, blah.

So my question is can anyone in TX recommend a shop willing to do this on the truck...preferable in the Austin/San Antonio area? Ya, I know I should just do this myself however I'd rather pay than screw it up myself.....yes my pucker factor is high diggin in the pump.

If I still lived in Georgetown I would do it for you, but I just moved down to Katy outside Houston. Its really not that difficult.

You are going to spend a fortune doing a 1.5 hr job. I say 1.5 for the first time, .75 on the second time one you know what you are doin. If you have any mechanical skill I would say dive in. Its great knowing you can do stuff like that.

Supernova, where do you live exactly? Like everyone says it really isn't that hard. The hardest part is getting the pump top back on. If you need any help, I'd be willing to give you a hand. I'm no expert by any means, but I've been in my pump a couple of times.

Ditto! JeePuller & I installed the spring in my pump at McMopar's a few weeks ago... armed with the writeup & pictures from the stickies, it wasn't bad. OTOH, the actual working room (pump on block) is much closer than the pics lead you to believe and a set of 5* GearWrenches are a must IMHO (Thanks Again Phil!). We also yanked the caps & cut the collar of the fuel screw in less than an hour! I'd also recommend a sturdy step stool or "scaffold" just to get under the hood at the right height (and mines 2wd!)

I bought the cover gasket (molded seal based on the engine serial#) and shaft o-ring (both combined were <$1 extra)...
