I've been trying to find a 3000SGK for my 97 reg cab but everyone I have called is out of stock or back ordered. I have an appointment this Monday to have a #8 plate installed, valves adjusted, gages installed, and the timing adjusted.

TX Diesel Injection is going to do the job in San Antonio. Has anyone done business with them? Anyone have any suggestions of what I should tell them to set the timing at (15/16)? Do you think that maybe a #10 plate would be better with my stock truck with auto trans (they recommended the #8)?

The only modifications I’ve done so far is a 4” SS duel exhaust (looks awesome!)

We've been having a hard time getting springs from Bosch, so haven't been able to ship to any of our dealers. Hopefully the springs will be arriving early next week, so we'll be able to fill all the back orders. As for your cam plate choice, I would recommend a #10 with the 3K gov kit, you can adjust it for more or less power & dial it in to want you like, much easier than the # 8

You can boost the governor to close to 3,000 by adjusting the OEM governor springs up by a couple of clicks. The injection shop will know the procedure. It is not as good as TST's 3K GSK, but will get you by until one is available.

I would be a bit careful of setting the timing on an automatic up more than two or three degrees past the recommendation on the CPL plate. If you have a transmission and torque converter from DTT or Goerend, then I would set it up to 17, as long as you are not pulling heavy loads. If you pull heavy loads, run it three degrees up from stock.

What is the stock setting for the timing for my 97 or better yet, where do I look to find it?

On the placard attatched to the from housing just forward of the injection pump, it should be at 13.5 base timing!

PS. Whats a 4000SGK used for? Racing?

Some people on here have the 4k kit but complain about a very touchy, jumpy, throttle below 2000 rpm's.

The 4K is mainly used for racing or sled pulling. Setup right, the throttle response should be fine, if it's too touchy, back the tension out a click on each spring pack.
