I am (hopefully) gona be starting on a Jeep CJ project some time this summer. And along with the usual 1 ton runnin gear and such I am considering a motor swap. I was originally planning on a 6.0 chevy gas burner but if I could find some places willing to make upgraded parts, ie injectors and injection pump, I think I would like to have a 250-300hp diesel instead.

So, I am looking for info on swapping a 3.9 into a Jeep and also where to look for performance parts.

Oh and unless someone has a reason not to, I think I would like to use a mechanical 3.9, like the p pump 12vs. I just think it would be a lot simpler to instal and no electronics to short out in the water.

TIA

The most common pump on the 4bt is the rotary VE pump.
Some are inline p-7100.
Go to 4btswaps to find places to buy one, but those guys don't know alot about diesels. Well, some do.
The 4bt will torque like a big block and be as fuel efficient as a 4 cylinder!!!
Most of the time, you won't need to change injectors, as the pumps have enough adjustment.
But you want 300hp, that would require bigger injectors, turbo, intercooler.

Awsome, thanks for the info and the link.

I dont think I will go to the trouble for an intercooler. Just because this jeep, though street legal, will be mainly for off road. I probably wont drive it much more then 10 miles on the highway and it will spend most of its time off road, muddin or crawlin at low speeds.

And I kinda figured on usin a 03ish 5.9 turbo. I havent done much research yet (if you couldnt tell...) but its just a swap I was lookin at just cause it is differant and I would like to see a jeep blowin black smoke every now and then. Plus the torque and the fact that it will run at any angle.
