Are 2wd and 4wd frames the same?

Are 2wd and 4wd frames the same?

This is for a 95 dodge 4wd. I am looking into buying a 2wd frame and swapping everything from my truck onto that frame (frame is better than mine)

Are all the mounts the same and will everything bolt up?

Thanks.

Basic frames are the same I believe. The problem lies in the mounts for the front end. They are all welded on and the the 2wd does not have any of the required ones. Unless you go with a aftermarket lift that supplies the control arm brackets, or wanna spend a lot of cutting rewelding. Just look for a 4wd frame. Not impossible just a lot of work. At one time I was looking at turing my into 4wd, and laid under a couple of trucks in the mall parking lot looking at the frames. Good thing the owners never found me there!

You would have a 2wd truck in the end ...I just cut up a 4x4 Diesel frame ...Keep in mind the diesel is a stronger frame especially the 4x4 frame and like CTD2500 said the mounts are welded on if you intended to make it a 4x4 .
I have built a few custom frames ...I took the front section of a diesel 4x4 and rear dually section fish plated and channeled the frames to build a really strong frame .
So if you are handy with a welder and have some time you can build a really nice frame .
But if not ... just buy the right frame !
