2nd gen intake on 3rd gen?
I was on another forum site and found a thread about aftermarket intake tubes for 3rd gen. Several members stated to buy a 2nd gen, flows better than stock and way cheaper than an aftermarket. Any thoughts on this idea, has anyone done this?
Thanks

I think with some small modifications you could make it work easy. I haven't looked at it closely, but I wouldn't think the 2nd gen intake would sit in the exact same place as the 3rd gen.

It sits in the same place.
You need the 2 long bolts from the 2nd Gen.
It also does not fit squarely in the IC hose, make sure you clamp it tightly.
Make sure the mating surfaces are cleaned of any old gasket that may remain.

Works fine. The inlet angle is a bit different than the stock 3rd gen one but it goes on nice and easy. And YES, you do need the two longer bolts that come off a 2nd gen truck to make it work. I didn't really notice any difference but it makes me feel better because so many others said it was great AND I got mine for $20 on Craigslist w/ bolts. I feel like a sheep sometimes.......
