2nd Gen. Exhaust manifold on a 3rd Gen.
Since Buddy wants to keep his thread strictly about water injection...
I will start this new thread (since I hijacked his) so we can discuss why anyone would want to put a 2nd generation exhaust manifold on a 3rd generation truck.
I've read several threads about the sound benefit, it makes 3rd gens sound less like giant rice burners when they are piped...
But what I am curious about, and I'm sure several others are, does it flow better than a 3rd gen manifold does?
In theory to me, it would seem like the CR manifold would flow better because it came from the factory with more HP than the 2nd gens did.
Thoughts?

IMO they flow nearly the same, but the 2nd gen manifold could have the edge because of its position, it is closer to the engine and the turbo is clocked different. I believe this could help spoolup in certain conditions over a CR manifold... I will be doing this but can't say when, it is my next priority for my truck so I'm hoping a couple of months...

Yep all twin setups use a second gen manifold, the manifold get turned upside down to get the secondary up higher.... I think II make a twin kit now that utilizes the 3rd gen manifold and puts the primary up over the secondary....
