285's or 315's

Its time for new tires and in not sure what size to go with. I have 35's in the truck now but they are on 16.5 rims and I want to put my stock rims back on. I have had the stock rims with 315's on the truck looked great but not sure if i want the rubbing issue with a $1000 set of tires, So i guess my question is, Would you guys/gals running 285's or 315's mind posting some pics and a little info like tire size and any suspension mods? If you would that would be great. Lets see what ya got!!!

Are your stock wheels steelies or cast? I think the steelies are narrower. My truck came with 315 bfg's on the steel stockers and while it looked cool, the balloon nature of too much tire on too little rim caused some pretty bad wear on the center of the tire, even at 20psi! I can't comment on the cast wheels, but I think they are wider. I had rubbing issues at full lock. Now I've got H2's with 315's and 2'' spacers and no rubbing. I know a lot of folks say that 2'' spacers will not cure the rubbing with 315's, but it worked in my case.

I have 285's on stock 16x6.5's, and they look good to me, and don't rub. My suspension is stock. My current tires are Bridgestone Dueler Revos, which I do not care for.

You cannot safely put 315's on 6.5" wheels.

285's work just fine though.

i got 285-75R16's on this truck. Stock rims and it sits nice doesn't rub. I am unsure about any lift or leveling it because i bought the truck like this. It sits pretty high compared to Dad's 2500 though.

On my 01 I currently run 295 75r 16's with no rub. So I think you should be able to do 305 with little or no rub; 315's may be rubbing.

With 315/75 Buckshot mudders on stock forged rims and Skyjacker D25s, I originally had a pretty fair amount of rubbing against the right control arm at full lock. Once I installed a Thuren trackbar adjusted to re-center the axle, I had a slight rub against the control arms on both sides at full lock. Since I was never at full lock except at parking lot type speeds, it really didn't confront me too much.

The 255/85s I have on there now don't rub at all, of course.

Probably the only way to ensure that 315s don't rub at all would be either: replace the control arms or run non-stock wheels with more offset that push the tires out a bit.

I just bought BFG AT KOs 285/75/16s on my eagle alloy 8x16 rims for my stock '99 CTD 4x4 with 3.50 gears.

I was thinking about going with 315s but would have rubbed up front and also 315 would have killed my 5th wheel trailer Towing Power/MPG and around town/stop and go mpg, plus id want to get wider rims for 315s

I have 285's also. Thought about 315's but like mentioned before, unless they are run at pretty low psi they will wear out the center quick.

Problem with running rims with more positive(0utward) offset is the outside edge will swing farther when turning and the outside edge rubs on the back side of the wheel well . The 33" 305/70/16s I used to have on, rubbed. A 35" 315/75/16 well hit the wheel well big time

i would have to ask what size gears are you running?

personally, i think 3.55 & 285s were marginal pulling loads but great solo on the hwy... 4.10s & 285s/315s i think would be ideal

Im running 3:55 gears, I have 35's on the truck now and everything is fine but they are on 16.5 rims and if you havent looked lately 35/12.5/16.5 tires are being discontinued so I was gonna run some 315' on my stockers for awhile untill I find a set of 16" rims I like
