285s or 305s
I need help deciding which tires to get. I am going to keep the stock wheels for now but one day i might get some wheels. I am not going to do any kind of lift. I am either going to get the BFGs or Toyos but i cant decide on 285s or 305s.
What do you guys think?
Will the 305s rub?
Will either size tire rub if i get wheels with no lift?
Which tires are easier to balance the Bfgs or Toyos?
Ill post more questions as i think of them.
Thanks!

oh and another question is the 305s are not rated for the stock wheel width. How do all you guys get away with them on the stock wheel?

pending on which tire you speak of 305s and 285s are the same heighth at least in BFGs they are only diff is the 305s are wider and have the infamouse E stamped on them if you use the stock rims I would go with 285s

Dodgezilla04, what is the backspacing of your rims? The 295s should not rub on stock rims. Aftermarket rims with less backspacing move the tires away from the control arms but too little backspacing will rub the fender lining.

Depends what you want to do with the tire....Toyo now has a 285 75 17 which is about 34 inches high....taller than a 305 70 but more suitable for your rims. Matching the tires and rims to the manufacturers specs for the tires always gives you a better ride and tire wear regardless of what anyone will tell. ks

mine only rubs the right mudflap when backing to the right with the wheel hard over. 99.99999% of the time, no rubbing.
i dont know what my backspacing is, have to go home and measure for you. and i am hesitant to install a leveling kit, cause it wont fit under the door then.

I have 305 Pro-Comp Extreme AT's on stock rims on mine and have had no problems with it yet. Love these tires, much improved over the stock BFG's that was on it
