24v smoking/ low power
Have a 99 dodge diesel all stock, no chips.
The problem I am having started when i replaced the lift pump. Truck started fine the first 3 or 4 times after pump install, then when at gas station would not start, (lift pump running with no air in injector lines at top of head). Then next day after a few trys truck started right up no smoke or rough idle.
Now the truck will start fine when it's cold, but if you kill it and try to restart it, it might or might not start, if it does start it's a long hard start.
Also at around 1700 rpm and up truck smoke's alot (white smoke), and at 2100 truck looses power sometimes.
The pump has code 216, so I know I need a injection pump, I just want to know if anybody else has had this problem and if the injection pump solved all the problems?? I don't know if I want to go back with a vp44 or go with a p7100. So if anybody has the conversion let me know how you like it?
