24V rev limit?

Can a 24V ever be built to turn the same revs as a 12V? I've heard of 12V's turning upwards of 5K but never hear anything about the 24V turning that? If not, why not? Thanks.

Im sure it can be done but not as easy or cheap as it would be on a 12v.

Thanks for the info. So does anyone know what's required to accomplish this, then? Thanks...

You would either have to convert to a P pump or get borsch ot reprogram the VP44. They do it for Cummins, don't know if you coud get them to reprogram one. Maybe a rebuilder can do it.

Do you happen to know the max rpm that Cummins has used out of the VP44? Thanks.

There was one pump out from bosch that would fuel upto I think 6K rpm's, but it was hard to get it there or something like that. Something wasn't working right last time I heard. You would need new valve springs, light weight valves, titanium retainers, new rocker arms (I think), pushrods (I think), cam. It would be expensive, but I'm sure it can be done.

Same reason people race diesels instead of big blown gas motors. FUN . Plus, nobody is going to break the 1,000 hp barrier at stock RPM's .

Now is that 6000 rpm diesel almost like a "nearly" stock 9.98 second corvette??

Not sure what you mean? Unless you're saying the truck is as modified as that Vette at that point, in which case, I definitely agree!!
