24V manifold on 12V....pics

Just thought I would post some pics of my conversion to a 24 valve manifold in case anyone wanted to see. I could not find a 12V with the turbo location I needed for under $400(cummins direct), but I did find a 24V. I just squared the ports so there was no restriction at the port and it worked great. There is alot of meat in the manifold so sealing is still good.

No idea...it was available and cheap, so that was the advantage to me.

But they have the turbo mounting flange centered. The one in the pic shows it at the rear, just like a common rail motor.

Checking his Sig, the reason might be apparent ~ "12V Cummins in 1987 V3500 Crew Cab GMC".

Yeap....

I like the lower location to keep heat and exhaust down low. It fits with my frame, so that is a plus. I had already built intake and exhaust plumbing for the low/rearward mount and I did not want to have to rebuild everything. It is a much bigger deal when you have to fabricate every piece.

Yup. It has the frieghtliner accessory brackets and everything. The engine actually came from a 1993 F700 ford. CPL 1582, 190HP, P-pump.

Thanks, and 10/4 on that. This started as broken bolts in the head due to the PO making a mess. I used a liberal amount of antisieze lube and my calibrated right arm torque wrench to make sure they were not over tightened(lots of wrenching kindof teaches when the bolts stretch enough to maintain). I checked them after a couple days and a few lost a little torque so I finished the right arm torque sequence again. No leaks after two weeks and they are all staying tight.
