24 Valve camshaft need good ideas.

I am planning on building a motor up on the stand and need some help on camshafts. Truck will be single turboed hrv44 found some roller rockers from a co. on the internet so... stock pistons prolly but freshened up LOTS of fuel 3:55 rear end and a 5 speed. Will be driven on the street and pull around 35-40k 3 times per week. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

A helix 2 would allow a lot of air through and allow you to run a 12v lift pump.

forgive my ignorance, but do you mean you will be sled pulling 35-40k or towing 35-40k on the street???? it will help greatly with our suggestions.

Street pulling. Sorry I pull a 53' easy haul with 3 or 4 diesels at a time and its a good load so... want some more reliable grunt. Truck runs and pulls great now but I am starting to blow some oil out the tube

thats what i was afraid of. i dont want to sound too harsh here, but if you want the grunt to pull that kinda weight, its VERY hard to do it with a single turbo.

you are gonna need fuel to make the power and with that kind of weight your egt's will be through the roof. plan on a set of twins, with something like a stock turbo up top and an HT3B on the bottom, they are proven many times over, will provide the air you need to keep your motor cool, and will spool quick enough to give you the power when you need it.

even with a cam, a single that spools quick when towing that kind of load just wont be able to provide the air you need.

right now egts are at 1200 buried throttle. It stays pretty cool and have more than enough fuel. Twins has been a option so what do you recommend for turbo set up with the helix 2 Thanks

something is not right...you have 220 sticks, drag comp, and smarty with a stock turbo and saying 1200 is your max EGT...thats surely not right.

is your EGT probe in the exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipe after the turbo?

Sorry I dont tow all that weight with the smarty on and the drag comp is on 3x3 but with the drag comp on 5x5 it gets only to 14 or 1500 for a brief moment. I have straight 4" turbo back too. Probe is in the manifold. With the smarty on it twist ujoints to threads. So I have to back off of it.

220 hp sticks alone should be able to wrap your pyro gauge around the peg by themselves on a stock turbo. let alone with either the drag comp or the smarty.

that might be part of the reason why you are starting to get excessive blowby from getting too hot

and the water temp gauge has never ever got over 210 ever. Bought truck with 170k miles and I have babied it since then. it runs around 40 psi with a hard load on it. I have some other air intake mods that seem to have helped the egts. Cold air with a custom pvc ram through the fender well so air to the turbo has not been a problem thus far.

I'd go Helix 2 with some decent springs from Doug.
