Hi Guys,

I priced dealer brake shoes for my 2001 2WD and they were $235 a pair.

I called genos and they did not carry them for my truck but referred me to a company called EGR where they carried a kevlar impregnated set for $179.

Does anyone have any experience with these shoes or have a better suggestion?

I run wagner on both my trucks and its only like 50 bucks for the front set. I have had them on my 04 for about 2 years and no problems just put them on my 96. Stop great even with a big load.

checker,autozone or napa will sell you lifetime pads /shoes a lot cheaper

My buddy who owned a brake only shop for 40 years and also drives a CTD told me to use the cheapest shoes Napa sells.
They've been working great for me for over 200k and I've have installed them exclusively on at least a dozen other trucks, no complaints.
They are about $75 for two pairs.

2nd the napa pads....no way I would pay that much for dealer shoes or pads. I don't think they are any better than parts stores stuff. I like the napa ceramic blend pad, they don't dust as bad and don't squeak.

NAPA front pads don't work well on 3rd gens. Neither do the Dodge Valu-Line pads. I've tried both and they both would not stop squeaking no matter what I did. If you prefer OEMs then try Steve White Motors in North Carolina. He just gave me a price on my front pads that was 40% less than the local dealer wanted....

I thought we were taking shoes, as in rear drum brakes, Napa only.
For front pads (or rears also on 4w discs) the best are Hawk Performance. http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....KE-04-296.670P sells them.

Got my shoes at oreily's. They have lifetime warranty but if you run them into the metal they won't cover it.

I happen to have a brake specialty supplier in town, you order shoes based on dimensions - 2 x 12 (2 inch wide x 12 in diameter drum) No idea what brand I have- either Raybestos, Wagner, or Bendix but they are great- especially how slow the rears wear.
Front pads are Bendix fleet stops. lifetime (1 exchange) and they stop as good as the Titanium brand pads I used to use for less.
Not liking the ceramic pads I put in the wife's car so I'll pass on them in the future.

My NAPA pads have been really good. I rotated the other day and the brakes still look like they have over 80% left after a year and a half and 18K miles.

I am talking Rear Drum Brakes only for 2001 Ram 2500.

I called Genos and they said they had nothing to offer on 2001 Drum Brake Shoes. For some reason the shoe design on 2000 - 01 was different than 94 - 99.

I ended up calling NAPA and their premium set was $70 warranted forever for defects, not wear.

I dont think I care about getting something warranted forever for wear, so I will probably go for the Napa.
