21 MPG's!!

This is the second tank i've gone through since owning the truck. The first tank I got 16mpg mostly city. Than I just changed the fuel filter (which was dirty), and did a oil and filter change, and I just clocked 21 Mpg's mostly city driving. I couldn't be happier about that, these cummins are amazing for the power you have and the economical aspect....

Ever since I put on my DDP3s modified my plate to #100 I've been lucky to break 20mpg. Guess I can't help but push that pedal a little harder to see some black smoke come out. But when my truck was stock (and I drove it softer) I was getting 20-23mpg every tank, I was amazed!! My best was 24.2mpg.

I thought I read the gallons wrong or read the miles wrong when I calculated that, but I re-did the math a couple times and when I saw 21 came up, i had a big smile, lol. I'm so use to getting 11mpg with that 350 chevy I had.

Ouch. You may even have some speedometer error to raise it higher, next time you're doing a decent stretch on the expressway watch your trip odometer and compare it to the milemarkers. I think my GPS shows about 14% error on my truck... it has 35s.

i'll try that^. So if the mile markers go by faster than the trip miles, i guess you either have to measure the feet past the marker that the trip odometer reads a mile to figure out the % it's over.

Yea, so say after 50 miles you're 2 miles off, then you have an error of 4%. My truck shows I went 50 miles when I actually went 57 miles, so I add that 14% on to correct my fuel mileage.

Yea, I remember years ago when my cousin was telling me how these 4wd 3/4 and 1 ton trucks would get over 20mpg... yea right.... Then I read about how the motor can put up with 50+psi! Gotta get one... and years later....
